Rosendale - Raymond H. Ritter, 80, of Rosendale died Saturday August 18, 2018 at his home following a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Ray was born in Kingston November 29, 1937 a son of the late Henry E. Sr. and Gertrude G. Kopp. Ray worked construction most of his life. He was employed as truck driver and Shop Stewdard for Teamsters Local 445 in Newburgh until his retirement 15 years ago. He also owned Ray's Village Inn in Rosendale for many. Ray had been involved and very helpful to many community organizations. In addition to his involvement with Teamsters Local 445, he was a Life Member of Rosendale - Tillson American Legion Post 1219, a Life Member and past President of Rosendale Volunteer Fire Department and a member and former Director of the Rosendale Volunteer Fireman's Association. Ray additionally served his country in the US Air Force.
His wife Dolores Kimker Ritter died March12, 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Bill) Ashmore of Saugerties, grandchildren Raymond Ritter, William Branden Ashmore (Brianna), Nichole Ritter, and Amanda Mercado (Marlon), and a great grandchild, Corbin Ashmore.
His son, Randy Ritter, died 10/14/2006, and two brothers, William Ritter died 10/2/2013 and Henry Ritter Jr. died 3/13/2016. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.
His funeral will be privately held at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Rev. Nickolas Miles will officiate. Interment will be in the Rosendale Plains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Road, Kingston, NY 12401.
